Описание: Today we’re breaking down real-world Footprint Forensics — comparing domestic dogs (Canis lupus familiaris) and coyotes (Canis latrans) using fresh tracks in new snowfall. After a recent snowfall along a local railroad line in the Niagara Region, I found perfect Eastern Coyote tracks. I knew coyotes were actively working the area because I had recently documented a deer and a hawk struck by separate trains — and during that time, I watched a coyote drag off a hind leg from the deer. While walking my dog Bear, I took the opportunity to film both dog and coyote tracks side-by-side to clearly show the differences in structure, shape, nail marks, and trail patterns.
