This week we’re lucky enough to experience one of the Midwest’s most unique and hard-to-come-by winter fisheries — ice fishing on Apostle Islands. When conditions line up, this part of Lake Superior offers an incredible opportunity to target multiple cold-water species all in one place, including brown trout, coho salmon, lake trout, and more.

Making the trip even more special, our host Josh is pulling double duty — serving not only as host, but also as guide for the winners of the Fleet Farm 70th Anniversary Sweepstakes. Grand prize winner Andy is brand new to ice fishing, while his son Matt has only limited experience on hardwater, so this Great Lakes adventure is something entirely new for both of them.

With stunning scenery, cooperative fish, and the excitement of sharing a first-time experience with great people, this trip is a perfect reminder of why we love winter fishing in the North Country.
