I am actually enough in acquiring more ceiling fans since I'm running out of space for fan storage already (and will continue acquiring more once I have more space to store many more fans). But guess what? I suddenly acquire this 4 local versions of a Matsushita ceiling fan by accident 😳. A friend of mine visited my place not too long ago, and he secretly brought me these 4 industrial ceiling fans which were removed from his newly bought shophouse that was being remodeled into a modern coffee shop. He took the fans down because he will be putting an air conditioning system in it so he doesn't need the fans anymore. When I asked my friend why did he decide to give all the fans to me instead of selling them is because he had no idea how to sell them and where he gonna sell them. And of course, I take all of the fans since I was surprised that the fans he's bringing are all my favorite childhood ceiling fans! Although all of them need some restoration tho, but that's not a big deal (since I love restoring anything too!), because the important thing is, these are my biggest childhood fans, and my friend gave me all the fans at NO COST! 😈
These 4 Matsushita fans are each 2 Nationals, and 2 KDKs, it's a quite unique right? The Nationals are F-EY129 48" and F-EY149 56" (and yes, I finally have the 56" version of EY129!), while the KDKs are both WZ48Q 48" (and I already have a WZ48Q before I got them so now I have 3 WZ48Qs 🙄). Another funny thing about these 4 fans is, two of the fan motors are in relatively pristine condition, and the other two are having faded logos, and that happened to one of the Nationals and one of the KDKs! All 4 fans each have downsides, starting from bearing issues on each fan and need to be replaced, all fan blades are bent (quite tolerable for a used ceiling fan), each fan having rusted blades on the edge, and last but not least a problem that is not a severe problem but kinda makes me confused, each fan downrod has been welded with a custom bracket (Although I could cut the welded area with a grinder, but it's still kinda frustrating for me). The EY149 is in the worst condition compared to the other 3 since it not only has seized bearings and a faded logo on the gold medallion, but it also has a completely yellowed bottom plastic motor cover, the blades are not only bent but also drooping and have more rust, and lastly, it has messy wiring. But these downsides are not comparable to how happy I am to acquire these childhood fans, FOR FREE! These fans have been no longer in production since more than two decades ago, and (you know) it's hard to find them in used condition with pristine and normal working condition (especially the KDKs which were much rarer than the Nationals). But unfortunately, I only keep 2 of the fans for myself from all 4. I took the 3rd shown KDK WZ48Q (with the pristine logos) and the National F-EY149. The other 2 fans (EY129 and WZ48Q with noisy bearings) have been sold to someone. If you wondered does the other WZ48Q (the first one I previously acquire) or my other Matsushitas will also be sold?... Ehemmm?! Sorry I am keeping them although I have double WZ48Qs and F-560A1s 😊.
