'Tax the rich!' Protests staged as World Economic Forum gathers for annual meeting in Davos

Описание: The Swiss town of Davos will host 52 heads of state and governments and nearly 600 high ranking
businesspeople, as the World Economic Forum (WEF) hosts its annual meeting starting from Monday.

WEF this year will tackle issues facing a divided world, as 2023 begins with war and conflict and economic pressures, with climate change being also in focus.

However, some protesters have descended upon the ski resort town to criticize the inequality in wealth represented by the meeting, especially the rich businesspeople.

The world’s top 1 percent grabbed nearly two-thirds of the $42 trillion in new wealth created since 2020. The share was almost twice as much money as the amount obtained by the bottom 99 percent of the world’s population.
