How to Use the Yeet Blends Pack | Teaching Consonant Blends Clearly

In this video, I walk you through the Yeet Blends Pack — designed to support learners as they move beyond simple CVC words and begin working with consonant blends.

This pack focuses on short vowel words containing blends at the beginning or end of the word (for example: st, bl, gr, nd). Learners practise blending each sound clearly and accurately — remembering that blends contain two distinct sounds.

This pack is ideal for:

• Year 0 and Year 1 learners ready for the next step beyond CVC
• Older students (Year 2 onward) who need structured practice with blending
• Learners rebuilding decoding confidence

The cards contain a mixture of common and less common vocabulary to ensure students rely on decoding rather than guessing.

In this video, I explain:
• How to teach blends without squashing sounds together
• Why each sound in a blend still matters
• How to extend learning through comparison and word chains
• When to build fluency after accuracy is secure

Unlike earlier packs, I do not usually pair this one with an alphabet strip. At this stage, learners should begin internalising sound-symbol correspondences and holding sounds mentally while blending.
