Most children want to be a doctor, a lawyer or a pilot when they grow up. Not Giritharan. He had always wanted to be a tennis player. Fast-forward 8 years, Giritharan is now living the dream- by becoming the tennis star of his school.
Giri, as he calls himself, loves the mental side of this highly physical game. At a young age, Giri was already recognized as a budding talent in the sport of tennis. As he became older, he represented both school and nation at the sport.
He played the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament in Brunei this February.
Although he feels that his injuries are affecting his performance on the court, he is determined to persevere in order to take it to the next level.
His motivation is Roger Federer, a notable tennis player worldwide. Giri cites his humble attitude as a quality that he loves in Federer.
Giri thanks his school coaches for their constant encouragement, leading his team into the finals of the inter-school competition.
His personal slogan is "Determination & Hard Work".
