How do you make a good Trident even better? Switch the kickdown back on!
Whilst the electric buses are rolling in over the country, im still privileged to have some cracking motors here at Stagecoachs Barnsley depot. A bus that many of you are familiar with... one that's always been a favourite of mine. Dennis Trident 19513 MX09 KSJ. Hands down always been my favourite in the batch from 19510-513 since they transferred here in 2018.
As usual with these ex Manchester Tridents, most don't have their kickdown switched on, which was the case with 513. It did however have its gearbox setup slightly differently which meant it changed gears at an higher RPM. In 2025 it's since had an engine change and a lot of work done to get it running like new. Parts for these aren't scarce like other vehicle types, which means why not get the most out of them now? After a bit of work doing, it now has its kickdown switched on, something i never thought id see happen to this bus !
