On the night of April 28th into April 29th, 2026, Ukrainian drones struck two separate Russian regions simultaneously. Orenburg Oblast in the south — and Perm Krai in the north. Both targets were industrial. Both targets were deep inside Russian territory. And both targets burned.
In Orsk, a city in Orenburg Oblast, Mayor Artyom Vorobyov issued an emergency alert urging residents to stay indoors and stay away from windows. Flight operations at Orsk airport were suspended immediately. Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsiya, imposed temporary restrictions across multiple airports throughout the country. These were not the actions of an air defense system in control of the situation. These were the actions of a command structure that didn't know where the next drone was going to land.
