My first time making egg candles 🪺 Couldn’t have turned out any cuter if I tried!
Here’s what I did:
Grab a dozen eggs. Use a spoon to gently crack open the top of the eggs and make an opening.
Pour eggs into a large bowl. Fish out any pieces of shell. Make yourself a nice frittata.
Try to remove as much of the white membrane inside the egg as possible — bit fussy but you can use tweezers to make it easier!
Wash egg shells gently and then let dry completely. I popped mine in the oven to speed the drying process up but be careful - they get really hot! You can also do this whole process in advance - just save your eggs throughout the week.
Place dried egg shells back into their container. Attach a wick to the bottom of each egg using a glue dot.
Melt about 300 - 350g of beeswax pellets over a double boiler until wax reaches 145F. Pour wax into a glass measuring cup (or something else with a spout).
Carefully pour wax into each egg and then use clothespins to secure the wick in place. Let wax harden for 1-2 hours before trimming the wicks. Burn egg candles in little egg cups.
