Visiting the largest monument in Europe - Volkerschlachtdenkmal! Americans in Leipzig

Описание: We spent the morning visiting the Völkerschlachtdenkmal - Völki for short, also known as the Monument to the Battle of the Nations. It is the biggest monument in Europe, right here in our new home town of Leipzig. It was built to commemorate the defeat of Napoleon's French army at Leipzig in 1813, and was completed in 1913 for the 100th anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles in history.
