Hayne van Ghizeghem wrote several hits during the Renaissance. This particular version of this piece is found in the Harmonice Musices Odhecaton and it contains a si placet altus, which is a part that was added at a later date by a different composer. Si placet altus parts were added to spice up existing compositions (or bring it more up to date) and are typically the second highest part in terms of range.
