I started my journey in Jerusalem at the Western Wall — praying, filming, and observing the unique mix of people who gather there every day. Ultra-Orthodox Jews deep in prayer, tourists from around the world, and even a spontaneous invitation to put on tefillin — which I gladly accepted.
From there, I walked through the Old City market. Narrow streets, Arab-owned shops full of spices and souvenirs, a few Jewish stores selling items for pilgrims and tourists — a true crossroads of cultures and faiths.
Reaching Jaffa Gate, the atmosphere shifted. Street musicians, people taking photos, laughter in the air. Jerusalem felt relaxed, open, even surprisingly light.
Then I continued along Jaffa Street — the beating heart of modern Jerusalem. The light rail moving through crowds of students, yeshiva boys heading home, cafés buzzing with conversation, and street performers around Zion Square.
Finally, I arrived at Mahane Yehuda Market — alive with color, flavor, and energy. Locals buying fresh food, visitors tasting knafeh, baklava, halva, and other Middle Eastern sweets. A city of deep spirituality… yet also freedom, diversity, and intellectual depth as Israel’s capital.
Jerusalem is not just history. It’s contrast. It’s tension and harmony at the same time.
This is Jerusalem — as I experienced it.
