💠 Sponsored Survival, A new experimental mode where only one team will infil onto Night Marsh—if that’s you, you know you’re the only crew on the map. But that doesn’t mean you’re alone...
After some period of time, solo Rook players will backfill onto the map.
Your only ticket out alive is from the final exfil, which spawns after 18 minutes.
Once you get to the final exfil, the decision is yours: Will you accept a truce and leave together, or turn your weapons on each other?
In Sponsored Survival, crews must bring Sponsored Kits to queue up—and Rooks come in naked—which makes this a low-stakes way to check out the new map, snag some loot, and try to survive the night.

Marathon is set on the planet Tau Ceti IV in the year 2893, 99 years after the events of the original game. There, humans from the UESC Marathon, a colony ship constructed out of the Martian moon Deimos, had established a colony. The colony and its ship have gone dark after multiple attacks by alien forces and devastating biological agents over the years. A distress call from one of Marathon's AIs has finally reached the United Earth Space Council (UESC). Earth and its many factions and mega-corporations, who have a stake in this endeavor, are blindsided by the colony's total blackout. These factions and corporations have hired "Runners", mercenaries who have given up their body in favor of specialized biocybernetic "shells", to infiltrate the colony and orbiting Marathon, fight against UESC forces, rival Runners and aliens, and retrieve valuable artifacts, data, and resources. Aboard the UESC Marathon, Runners discover the ship to still be under the control of Durandal, one of the ship's AIs that had gone rampant and turned against the human colonists, helping to direct the alien S'pht aboard. The narrative continues Durandal's efforts to grow beyond the bounds of the universe, emphasized by the phrase "Escape will make me God."
