On April 30th, the Subcommittee on Energy of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee met to discuss the Department of Energy’s Loan Guarantee Program.
Ranking Member Congresswoman Lofgren voiced the Congressional bipartisan support of the Fusion Industry Association, and questioned witness Jon Haygood, Assistant Treasurer at FIA affiliate member Southern Company on their involvement in fusion development. Haygood stated that FIA membership provides Southern Company with easy access to stakeholders in the fusion community and the ability to maintain awareness of policy and regulatory decisions impacting fusion deployment.
Congresswoman Lofgren also spoke about the advances in the fusion industry - including increases in investment and commercial timelines.
