Stackpole Court National Trust Property near Lily Ponds, Broadhaven and Barafundal Bay.
I visited just after the February Storms 2022 and there were a few trees down which was to be expected. There were some small twigs on the paths, a coupe of bushes sticking out but that is to be expected and I they may have been cleared by now.
I followed the main paths which were perfectly fine for the Wheelchair and would have also been ok for a mobility scooter. They are gravel/mud type paths no tarmac or concrete and are mostly flat with a few inclines which my electric wheelchair managed with quite well. I have previously visited with my mobility scooter.
The birdsong was amazing in the silence.
There were a couple of people walking their dogs but in general it was very quite.
Basically this is a woodland walk through an area that was the gardens of the Grand Stackpole Court, which is a county house that no longer exists as it had to be demolished, I believe I have read that the rubble was used as foundations for the local refinery and original Pembroke Power station. The Stackpole Estate area covers this woodland walk, The famous Lily ponds, Broadhaven (South) Beach, Barafundle Beach, The walled Gardens and The Stackpole Centre.
Historically the Estate would have been a main employer for the area.
This estate is now a National Trust Property.
Who am I
My name is sue and I make these you tube videos for a few different t reasons
1. I love to travel, I love trains planes and cars and boats camper vans and caravans. I love hotels B&Bs tents and villas. I love being away from home experiencing new things.
2. Life became difficult about 6 years ago when I got a pain in my hip and knee. I have had nerve damaged in my left leg for over 25 years and getting problems on my goodside was devastating as my ability to walk without pain disappeared. I am a stubborn person and a I am a stubborn person and I won’t give up things I love so I started using a walking stick but I soon found but I need to think of something else and that's when my husband bought me a mobility scooter. I have now upgraded to an Electeic Scooter.
3. I dont watch much TV but I do love YouTube. My son had a channel ten years ago and I thiugh why don’t I share my travels with reduced mobility, others might be Interested. I started before Covid so had to stop as obviously travel wasn’t possible and I was classed as vulnerable1. But now we are learning to live with covid and my world is opening up again I have decided its time to start filming again, but not with my scooter but with my new Electric Wheelchair.
4. In my films you will see the places I visit often with my husband and our westies. Independent travel has proved impossible as I “get stuck" and this increases my anxiety and panic attacks.
You are very welcome to join me on my travels.
