In this archive of our live program focused on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its ongoing implications our panel of experts engage with a student and internet audience in a fascinating conversation as we explore both historic and contemporary perspectives on the Act.
Discussion topics include: provisions of the Act itself; the political, cultural, and legal forces that caused its passage; and the Constitutional concepts that were at issue. We'll also examine the importance of the Act and its impact on American life at the time of its passage and its continuing impact through subsequent legislation and the civil rights movement today.
Guests are law professor Rigel Oliveri; Pam Meanes--President, National Bar Association; Reuben Shelton--President, Missouri Bar Association; and Mark Updegrove--Executive Director LBJ Presidential Library. @aspireandcelebrate
