Описание: Pointed gourd variety Swarna Alaukik and Bardhaman is multiplied as vine / stem cutting planting materials by Mr. Sudarshan. Old practice was to develop planting materials fromm roots.
Stem cuttings are taken from healthy mother plants to develop seedlings, but male plants and female plants kept separately.
Each cutting should have 3 nodes. First all the cuttings to be treated with a water solution of Carbendazim and Mancozeb for 15 minutes. Then root portion should be treated with root hormone before planting it in the polythene packet with size of 4 inch X 6 inch which are filled up with a mixture of soil, sand and compost earlier. Polythene is filled up with a mixture of soil, sand and compost which are mixed at same proportion of 1:1:1 and treated with trichoderma and pseudomonas. Stem cutting are inserted in the soil mixture to the depth of 1.5 inch so that 1 node will be inside the soil and rest 2 nodes will be seen outside. Then soil is pressed.
Water is mostly sprinkled as and when required. Saf (Carbendazim+Mancozeb) is also sprayed @ 2 gram per litre of water once or twice to manage some fungal diseases. Rooting starts normally after 7 days and these rooted plants can be transferred to the main field and planted at around 40 to 45 days stage of nursery.
