This acoustic instrumental track was composed using a lot of string instruments as a contrast to the electronic textures of my usual style. I was definitely tapping into some Pat Metheny/Lyle Mays vibes with this one! I composed the tune on my acoustic D’Angelico guitar which my Dad gave me earlier last year.
I even sampled percussion sounds from it to double the cajon layers later on in the track. I want all out, adding a piano solo, layers of unique string instruments, layers of trumpet and an unusual wind instrument called a ‘Xaphoon’. (Also known as the ‘Hawaiian Saxophone’, since this track had a bit of a tropical feel about it!)
