"Rock & Rule" was a 1983 movie by Nelvana, an animation studio from Canada that just closed its doors permanently as of last Friday.

I learned about how this movie was going to be their breakout hit, an original filled with chart topping artists from the time performing new music and weaving a scifi cyberpunk story about an aging megastar wanting to destroy the world, or rule it as a cruel overlord. The movie flopped when United Artists screwed up the release with little to no marketing. They didn't have a chance.

My premise was going to have this start in a 1983 flashback, showing Mike (Foxy Bully), David (crying child), Charlotte, and Elizabeth watching "Rock & Rule" in a theater. William and Henry were there too, discussing how to get "Fredbear and Friends" made by taking advantage of the situation. Henry doesn't like the idea, it feels too much like MCM. William convinces him as the kids seem to like the ending - "One Voice, One Heart, One Song, but there is no One," Charlotte holding Elizabeth and David's hands, and even Mike putting his arm around David.

At some point, you just have to kick a video out the door, warts and all. Once I heard of Nelvana finally closing its doors after all this time, I knew I just couldn't wait any longer on this one.
