BUILT TO TAKE A BEATING: WHY COMMERCIAL WIRES WEAR ARMOR 🛡️⚡
When you're swinging a hammer to open up a wall, hitting a hidden wire is a demo crew's worst nightmare. But in commercial buildings, the wiring wears armor.
If you look inside these steel stud walls, you won't find soft plastic wiring. You’ll find Armored Cable (BX or MC Cable) threaded right through the framing.
As our crew points out in the video, it is actually incredibly hard to smash through one of these with a hammer. And that’s exactly the point.
That flexible metal jacket is there for ultimate protection. It defends the live wires inside from:
✅ Accidental hammer strikes during demo
✅ Sharp, jagged edges of the steel studs
✅ Errant drywall screws
It gives us a necessary layer of safety when we're tearing down a space. It’s tough enough to take a hit, but that doesn’t mean we swing blindly—surgical deconstruction is always the standard.
👇 Has a piece of armored cable ever saved you from a nasty shock on site? Let us know in the comments.
