This town of approximately 15,000 has a thriving tourism industry which swells to a population of over 50,000 during the peak winter dry season boasts way more however than great holiday opportunities and unreal sunsets on beautiful Cable Beach. A historic town based on pearling whereby it was once considered the pearling capital of the world it has a unique Japanese and Chinese influence which came from migrant pearlers back a long way back which is still reflected in today's vibrant Chinatown in the centre of town. Broome was also the sight of the second deadliest WW2 attack on Australia after Darwin with the Bombing of Broome in March 1942 leaving quite an impact on the town which is still reflected in its history today.
