When Guru Gobind Singh was asked the caste of the keshdari (ones who keep uncut hair) men and women who accompanied Him, as they did not look like Muslims or Hindus, Guru Sahib replied:
ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਫੁਰਮਾਵਨਿ ਕੀਆ। ਭਯੋ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਤੀਆ। ਹਿੰਦੂ ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁਹਿਨ ਤੇ ਨਯਾਰੋ। ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ।
After hearing this Guru Ji replied, I have created the Khalsa, the third Panth (path) in the world, distinct from both the Dharmic and Abrahamic paths. Consider them the servants of Akaal Purakh Vaheguru (The Timeless One, The Wondrous Enlightener)

ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਬੰਦਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸਮਰਥ ॥ ਡੋਲਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਥ ॥੧॥
I bow down and fall to the ground in humble adoration, countless times, to the All-Powerful Lord who possesses all powers. Please protect me and save me from wandering. Reach out and give Nanak Your Hand. ||1||

ਆਇਆ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਦੂਖ ਸਹੈ ਸਿਰ ਆਪੁਨੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਕੋਇ ॥1॥
Coming into this world is only worthwhile if in the service of others. They bear the sufferings of others on their head and bring happiness to all.
ਏਕ ਜੀਹ ਤ੍ਵ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਥੰ ਕਿਮ੍ ਪਾਰੰਤੀ ਕਥੰਤਿ ਨਾਮੰ॥ ਪਾਹ ਪਾਹ ਛਮੋ ਪਰਾਧੰ ਸਰਨ੍ਯ ਸਰਨ੍ਯ ਸਰਨ੍ਯ ਨਮਾਮੀਸੰ॥
Oh Master, I, Your servant, only have one tongue; saying your names how can I reach Your Limits? For this reason, I am in your protection; forgive my faults!

ਸਗਲ ਦੁਆਰ ਕਉ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਗਹਯੋ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਦੁਆਰ ॥ ਬਾਹਿ ਗਹੇ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ਅਸਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾਸ ਤੁਹਾਰ ॥੮੬੪॥
O Lord! I have forsaken all other doors and have caught hold of only Your Door. I, Gobind, am Your servant, kindly take care of me and protect my honour

ਭੂਲ ਜੋ ਚੂਕ ਭਈ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਗੁਰ ! ਕਿੰਕਰ ਸੋ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਬਖਸ਼ਾਵਤਿ । ਲਾਜ ਰਖੋ ਨਿਜ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਕੀ, ਸਿਖ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਜਗ ਮਾਂਹਿ ਕਹਾਵਤਿ । ਤੁੰ ਬਖਸ਼ੰਦ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ, ਮੋ ਮਨ ਨਾਂਹਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਛੁਟਕਾਵਤਿ । ਲੋਹ ਤੇ ਹੇਮ ਇਰੰਡ ਤੇ ਚੰਦਨ, ਮਾਨੁਖ ਤੇ ਸੁਰ ਤੁੰ ਹੀ ਬਨਾਵਤਿ ।
Oh Guru, the mistakes and errors that I've made; as your servant, I am asking for forgiveness for them. Please keep the honour of Your Name because in this world, I call myself a Sikh of the Guru. You are forever the Forgiver and Bliss-Bestower; I cannot escape the draw to sensual pleasures in my mind. Only you can change iron to gold, castor bean [a poisonous plant] to sandalwood and a human into a Devta.

ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਕੋ ਪਾਲੈ । ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਕੋ ਗਾਲੇ । (੫੦) ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕਰੈ । ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਮਲੇ ਛ ਪਰ ਚੜ੍ਹੈ। (੫੧) ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉਂ ਜੋੜੇ। ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੋ ਤੋੜੇ। (੫੨) ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਜੋ ਚੜੇ੍ਹ ਤੁਰੰਗ । ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਜੋ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਜੰਗ। (੫੩) ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਕੋ ਧਾਰੈ । ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੋਇ ਦੁਸੰਟ ਕੋ ਮਾਰੈ। (੫੪)
Khalsa is the one who looks after the poor. Khalsa is the one who annihilates the evil-doers. (50) Khalsa is the one who remembers the Divine Name. Khalsa is the one who invades the barbarians. (51) Khalsa is the one who is permeated with the celestial entity. Khalsa is the one who destroys the bondage. (52) Khalsa is the one who rides the horse. Khalsa is the one who is ever ready for righteous war. (53) Khalsa is the one who adorns the arms. Khalsa is the one who exterminates the vicious. (54)

ਸਦਾ ਸਰਬਦਾ ਚਰਣ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਧਿਆਊਂ ॥ ਤੁਮਨ ਮਿਹਰ ਸਿਉਂ ਦੁਸਟ ਸਗਲੇ ਖਪਾਊਂ ॥ ਯਹੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥ ਮਿਟੈ ਕਸਟ ਗਊਅਨ ਛੁਟੈ ਖੇਦ ਭਾਰੀ ॥ ਫਤਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਜਗਤ ਸਿਉਂ ਬੁਲਾਊਂ ॥ ਸਭਨ ਕਉ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਹਿ ਵਾਹਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਊਂ ॥ ਕਰਹੁ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਪੰਥ ਤੀਸਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸਾ ॥ ਜਗਹਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੋਧੇ ਧਰਹਿ ਨੀਲ ਭੇਸਾ ॥ ਸਕਲ ਰਾਛਸਨ ਕਉ ਪਕੜ ਵੈ ਖਪਾਵੈਂ ॥ ਸਭੈ ਜਗਤ ਸਿਉਂ ਧੁਨਿ ਫਤਹ ਕੀ ਬੁਲਾਵੈਂ ॥
I should always contemplate on your feet/sanctuary. With your blessings, I shall destroy all the wicked. Grant me this boon. Relieve the destitute of agony and all ailments. The victory to the Almighty shall be my proclamation (Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh). To all, Vaahi Vaahi (Vaheguru) shall be the word to meditate on. Designate the third path (panth) of the Khalsa (different to and distinct from the Abrahamic (Judaism, Christianity & Islam) and Dharmic (Buddhism, Jainism, Hinduism) paths). The loyal Singh and Singhni (Lion-like and Lioness-Like Khalsa) warriors will rise and don blue attire. They will capture and destroy all demons (evil persons). They will sound the melody of victory in the universe.

ਜਉ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਖੇਲਣ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥ ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰਿ ਤਲੀ ਗਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਉ ॥ ਇਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੈਰੁ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਾਣਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੨੦॥
If you desire to play this game of love with Me then step onto My Path with your head in hand. When you place your feet on this Path, give Me your head and do not pay any attention to public opinion.
