Trevor Francis, Britain's first £1 million football player, has died aged 69.
ITN spoke to Trevor on 8 February 1979 – the eve of his historic transfer from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest. Francis attended five hours of discussions at Nottingham Forest with the club's assistant manager Peter Taylor and manager Brian Clough. Despite the lengthy conversation, no decision had been made by the time Clough and Francis spoke to the press that afternoon. His decision to go to Nottingham Forest would be announced the following day.
