Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the mayoral polls in Delhi. First-time councillor and party candidate Shelly Oberoi was declared the new mayor of Delhi. She is a councillor from Delhi's East Patel Nagar ward. Earlier three attempts failed to elect a mayor in Delhi. Shelly Oberoi has worked as an assistant professor at Delhi University. The 39-year-old councillor is also a lifetime member of the Indian Commerce Association (ICA). She earned her doctoral degree in philosophy from IGNOU's School of Management Studies.
