When Sonny Wortzik's (Al Pacino) bank robbery plans go awry, the novice criminal finds himself in the middle of an intense police standoff. Sonny calls his boyfriend, Leon (Chris Sarandon), and tries to convince the police that his partner had nothing to do with the crime. Soon after, Sonny finds out his mother is waiting outside the bank and says his goodbyes, believing this robbery will result in his death. Is Sonny's intuition correct?
