This video highlights the transformation of Adams Park in North Omaha, formerly known by locals as "Green Hill". The project focuses on "reimagining" the 70-acre space into an urban oasis for recreation and community connection.
Additions include:
All-Wheels Playground: A specialized area featuring features that riders can go through, over, and around.
Pump Track: A vred-surfaced track designed for continuous riding.
Safe Trail Surfaces: The use of "chip seal" on trails provides a safer, sidewalk-like feel for those transitioning into trail riding.
Beginner & Kid-Friendly Design: Trails are designed with open sightlines so parents and guardians can see their children from almost anywhere on the site.
Equity and Access: The park serves as a "little oasis" in the middle of an urban center, providing local families and students from nearby schools like North High with outdoor adventure opportunities right in their neighborhood.
The grand opening on June 22, 2025, celebrated a new chapter for the park. Local leaders and residents emphasized that this project instills community pride by offering world-class amenities "so close to the house" for North Omaha families.
The project was a collaborative effort involving Trails Have Our Respect (THOR), IMBA Trail Solutions, the City of Omaha, and the Northstar Foundation.
