A Camera In With Lions! Did It Survive The Lions Den? | Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve

Описание: Incredible footage of the popular Kent park’s lion pride has been captured using a custom designed, industrial grade stainless steel camera housing. The Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve team have gone to extreme lengths to capture unique footage of their resident lion pride. The team worked with local company, Kingsnorth Engineering, to design and build a camera housing strong enough to withstand the attention of two adult lions and three cubs.

The prototype model, dubbed ‘Bouldercam’, was placed in the lion enclosure at Port Lympne on Monday 2nd December. Within minutes, the pride were investigating the camera and it was quickly turned into a toy by the lion cubs. 7 -month-old Khari took a particular interest in the 2kg lump 2 mm stainless steel, playing with it for several hours.

The camera was retrieved the next day.
Richard Barnes, Animal Manager at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve said: ‘Bouldercam has survived its first encounter with our Khari, who is a very inquisitive young male. He is always the first to investigate any new addition to the enclosure and is the most playful of our lion cubs.

We’re excited to continue to improve the design with our partners at Kingsnorth Engineering, improving battery life and adding additional GoPros to capture even more amazing footage to share online.’
