Justin Timberlake - deep cuts!
I associate with Justin Timberlake’s music countless beautiful moments in my life – especially on the dance floor. A big part of that comes from the fact that, from the very beginning of his career, he has been shaped by two of my absolute favorite producers: Timbaland and The Neptunes.
I’ll admit that I also secretly listened to a few tracks from his time in the boy band ’N Sync back in the day – and even saw them live at an MTV festival in Hannover. Many years later, I finally saw Justin perform with his band in Hamburg. The show itself, the music, and of course the choreography were simply breathtaking.
There is, however, one moment in Justin’s career that I still view critically: when he thought it was a good idea to diss my favorite artist, Prince. That wasn’t a great moment – and I believe he knows that himself today.
What remains – and what will surely continue to come in the years ahead – are magical musical moments. What I especially love about the productions by Justin Timberlake and Timbaland is that many of the tracks run six, seven, or even nine minutes, constantly shifting their tempo, mood, and character: returning to their roots, only to be completely torn apart again moments later.
No matter how you feel about him personally, listen to this set and let yourself fall into the mesmerizing musical world of Justin Timberlake and his brilliant producers. And if you don’t stand up and dance at least once during this set, you might want to get checked out by a funk doctor.
I hope you enjoy this set. Take care of yourselves 🖤

This is not mixing
Some DJs keep commenting “where is the mixing” under my YouTube sets. But not every episode is meant for the club or a dancefloor crowd. When I share music online, it’s less about flashy blends and more about storytelling through sound and lyrics. For me, the magic is in the selection, the sequence, and the way one track emotionally leads into the next: like chapters in a concept album. Smooth mood transitions, occasional sharp pivots, lyrical progression, rising tension, soft landings… And most importantly: most songs are perfect as they are. Why cut them short when every second is delicious! I love letting tracks breathe, unfold, and shine.

deep cuts
A "deep cut" is a lesser known piece of music that presents one or more of the following traits:
1. it has never been played live or gets performed rarely
2. it is not frequently heard on the radio because it is not a hit and, as a result, doesn’t fit within most of the ordinary and commercially appealing playlists
3. it is known almost exclusively by the truest and most devoted fans of a given artist or band
4. the label “deep cut” can be assigned to any of the album tracks that have not been published as a single
5. it is considered as a particularly brilliant song that most of a band’s ordinary fans are generally unaware of
6. it is a track buried in the huge catalogue of an artist with a long career
7. it may be any of an artist’s older songs that is not played live or broadcast as frequently as it was before
