Learn how to make your sprite talk in Scratch!

To make your sprite talk, open the costumes tab for the sprite you want to talk. Duplicate a costume and use the select tool to draw a rectangle around the bottom half of the mouth. Drag the selection down and then fill with a color. Name this costume "open mouth" and the other costume "closed mouth."

To make the sprite talk forever, switch between the "open mouth" and "closed mouth" costumes. Add a "wait random amount" block after each costume block to make it look more natural. Attach this code to a "when I receive move mouth" message. Then, broadcast a "move mouth" message before your sprite says something.

Notice how the sprite keeps talking even when they're done speaking? Once they finish saying something, we need to stop other scripts on the sprite and then switch to the "closed mouth" costume.
