The Karate Virtual Forum thank Sensei Andreas Quast to let us learn from his knowledge and experience through his lecture ¨Martial arts of Ryukyu through the Centuries¨.
Andreas Sensei is a worldwide reference for the KarateDo World. Specialized in Okinawan Kobudo, Herr Quast was born in 1966. He lives and trains in Germany, working as a technical writer.
Andreas Quast is the author of various martial arts books, including "Karate 1.0" (2013), "A Stroll Along Ryukyu Martial Arts History" (2015), "King Wu Once Buckled on his Armor" (2016), "Okinawan Samurai" (2018), and the translation of a book which was recently published and it is called "My Art and Skill of Karate" by Motobu Choki.
Sensei Quast is constantly digging through archives around the globe. He´s always seeking all what is written about Okinawa Karate and Kobudo. His findings are published and well known everyewhere. His activities in martial arts included a first study and practice trip in 1999 and then living close to 2 years in Okinawa.
Andreas got a number of prestiguous awards for his ongoing research, counting between them the ones given by the International Ryukyu Karate Research Society, and the Ryukyu no Kaze Society. And his main attribute is his humbleness, which has been shown in an interview run time ago, when he was asked which was the most important prize he got in Karate. Andreas Sensei answer that it is the network of Friends and Colleagues worldwide who share with him the same hunger and love for Karate.
