Описание: The viola da gamba was a central instrument in Baroque music since its origin in the bowed vihuelas of the Aragon Crown. The theorists of its time claimed that it imitates the human voice, as the bow has a stroke almost as long as a person's normal breath. Works by Hume, Telemann, Marais, Abel and Bach are performed herein, illustrating the different stylistic conceptions of the viola da gamba in each country.
