Shaykh Kamaluddin Ahmed was born and raised in Manhattan, turning to religion while studying at the University of Chicago. He spent nearly 20 years abroad studying Shari’ah and teaching in Pakistan, England, and South Africa. He previously taught at Pakistan's top universities and is completing a PhD in Islamic Intellectual History at the University of Oxford. He held research fellowships at Princeton and Yale and now serves as a faculty member at Kufah Institute..
