Vegan Protein Fruit Loops 🌈🌱😍
We’re making homemade fruit loops!😁 I love re-creating some of my favorite childhood cereals my vegan toddler. We don’t consume anything with artificial food dyes, so adding natural colorant like beet root powder and turmeric gives the cereal a vibrant color without drastically changing the flavor. You can do fruit powders as well!
I even boosted the protein by adding our favorite clean label protein powder from @complement! It’s only 5 ingredients, soy free, and gluten free. 🤗(Discount Code: MYBGR15)
✨ Ingredients:
1 cup oat flour
1 cup almond flour
1/2 cup coconut flour
1/4 cup Complement Unflavored Protein Powder
1/4 cup agave syrup
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce (If you’re using all homemade flours, I would personally decrease this amount to 1/3 cup.)
1/4 cup almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Beetroot and/ freeze dried strawberry powder (for pink color)
Greens powder or spirulina and/ freeze dried apple powder (for green color)
Turmeric powder (for yellow color)
Blueberry powder and/or blue spirulina (for blue color)
Tip: If you are making your own powders with freeze dried fruit, be sure to wait to blend them right before you add it to your dough, because the powder will start to clump together.
✨ Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the oat flour, almond flour, coconut flour, protein powder, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the applesauce, agave syrup, almond milk, and vanilla extract.
4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too wet, add a bit more oat flour until it reaches a workable consistency.
5. Divide the dough into four equal parts. Add beetroot powder to one part, spirulina powder to the second part, turmeric powder to the third part, and blueberry powder to the fourth part. Mix each part until the color is evenly distributed.
6. Roll each colored dough into small balls and shape them into loops. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
7. Let the shaped loops air dry on the baking sheet for 15-20 minutes.
8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the loops are slightly golden and firm to the touch.
9. Turn off the oven and let the loops cool inside with the oven door slightly open to help them dry out further.
10. Allow the loops to cool completely before serving. Enjoy with your favorite plant-based milk! 🥛
