Over a fortnight we travelled from Italy to France via the 11km mt Blanc tunnel to meet some of our closest friends from home so we could all hike one of the most iconic long-distance hikes in the world – the Tour du Mont Blanc. It’s a 170-kilometer loop through France, Italy, and Switzerland, circling the Mont Blanc massif, and crossing some of the most stunning alpine scenery you can imagine.
Over several days, we hiked through high mountain passes, deep valleys, and remote alpine villages, experiencing everything from clear blue skies to moody mist & thunderstorms, and seen marmots and the elusive Ibex. It was challenging at times – steep climbs, long days on the trail – but also incredibly rewarding - I think we could walk for 100 years and not see more spectacular scenery. Compared to the quiet trails of POB this area is positively buzzing with people engaged in all manner of mountain activities. but it’s hard to begrudge anyone enjoying what is truly an amazing landscape.
