Zu Hause schaffte es im Herbst 2024 die Sonne nur selten, die Hochnebel- und Wolkendecke zu durchdringen. Ganz anders in Marokko, wo man auch im Spätherbst blauen Himmel, Sonne und angenehme Temperaturen genießen kann. Da lag der Gedanke nahe, unsere Fahrradreise entlang der marokkanischen Küste von Casablanca nordwärts fortzusetzen. Die dicht besiedelte und verkehrsreiche Großstadtregion mit der Wirtschaftsmetropole Casablanca und der Hauptstadt Rabat zählt nicht zu den besonders gefragten Radreisedestinationen. Das Kontrastprogramm dazu erleben wir, als wir nördlich von Kenitra abseits der großen Verkehrsachsen ein dünn besiedeltes landwirtschaftlich geprägtes Gebiet erreichen, in dem Pferdefuhrwerke das verbreitete Verkehrsmittel der Dorfbevölkerung sind. Ab Moulay Bousselham verlassen wir die Küstenebene und wenden wir uns dem Rif-Gebirge zu.

At home in the fall of 2024, the sun rarely managed to penetrate the high fog and cloud cover. Things are very different in Morocco, where you can enjoy blue skies, sunshine and pleasant temperatures even in late fall. So the idea of continuing our cycle tour along the Moroccan coast from Casablanca northwards was an obvious one. The densely populated and busy metropolitan region with the economic metropolis of Casablanca and the capital Rabat is not one of the most popular cycling destinations. We experience a contrast to this when we reach a sparsely populated agricultural area north of Kenitra, away from the major traffic routes, where horse-drawn carts are the most common means of transport for the villagers. From Moulay Bousselham, we leave the coastal plain and head towards the Rif mountains.
