One of the best Grateful Dead songs ever (in my opinion), Box of Rain debuted on American Beauty, the Grateful Dead's 5th album, in 1970. The song, which was co-written by Bassist Phil Lesh and legendary songwriter Robert Hunter, was about Phil Lesh's father, who was dying of cancer at the time. Great, great song.
