Hundreds of supporters of Arvind Mohapatra, the Patkura MLA from Kendrapara district, Odisha, surrounded Shankh Bhavan — the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) headquarters — to protest his suspension from the party over alleged “anti-party activities”, a disciplinary action taken by senior leadership this month. Mohapatra’s supporters say party leader Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak could not justify the decision and accused him of being a key force behind the suspension move.
