Motorcycle license - Learners permit assessment - Victoria - Australia

Описание: The video covers a portion of the motorcycle license process in Victoria Australia. I'm not a motorcycle instructor, nor am I associated with Honda Australia Rider Training, just sharing my experience.

Trying to keep things short and simple so you have an idea of what happens during the range assessment. Depending on interest I can cover the other aspects of the license process.

Broadly speaking the license process is as follows:

Day 1 - Classroom, practical training drills and written test
Overview: Prior to attending you'll need to read through the 'Victorian Rider Handbook', link below, or available as a hard copy at VicRoads, this will be the basis of the classroom exercises and a written test at the end of the day. In addition you'll be taken through practical riding instruction on the range ie: 'off-road'
Outcome: At the end of this first day, you will hopefully pass your written test. If you don't pass you'll get an opportunity to take it again on the second day.

Day 2 - Practical training drills, range assessment, road assessment
Overview: Additional practical riding instruction on the range, completing your range assessment, this range assessment is covered in this video. Providing you pass, you'll then complete your road assessment in a small group of riders. Depending on interest I can make another video to cover this assessment.
Outcome: Completing the range and road assessment, you'll get a sheet of paper which is your temporary motorcycle learner permit and later you will get the motorcycle learners permit in the mail.

Day 3 - Check ride
Overview: After you've had your learner permit for a few months, practicing the lessons you learned in the two day course, you'll be able to attend a 'check ride'. This assessment is very similar to the road assessment, and the instructor will be giving you tips on how you can improve your skills and set you up for success in the final road assessment.
Outcome: You'll pass your check ride with a list of improvements and things to practice. Completing the check ride makes you eligible to attend your final 'on-road' assessment

Day 4 - Final on-road assessment
Overview: You'll have a one-on-one range test and road assessment
Outcome: Providing you pass, you'll get a sheet of paper which is your temporary motorcycle permit and you will receive your motorcycle license / updated car license with "R" for motorcycle appended in the mail.
