Posthumanism is a call for an investigation of what it can mean to be human in our times of “globalization, technoscience, and climate change” when the assumptions of classifical humanism no longer hold and, as Stefan Herbrechter has put it nicely, we need to “rewrite humanity”.
Posthumanism calls on us, everyone and especially the humanities scholars, to respond with a new vision of humanity, human being, being human. But not any response will do—posthumanism calls for a responsible response to the call for a new vision of human being.
Human being thus is at its heart the continuous open search, wheres posthumanism, or at least the core of it, is nothing else but a call for humility, for putting this search at the center of our efforts.
