Metro North Siemens Charger testing along the Long Island Railroad!

Описание: This December, Metro North SC42-DM 307 made its way into New York and Long Island to test along the rails. Here is a very special move for the LIRR and a look at the near future. As time goes on we are barreling towards the arrival of the LIRRs new diesels to replace the DE30ACs and DM30ACs. Those will be SC42-DM “Siemens chargers” which Metro North just got some and are continuing to get them. Since we haven’t gotten any yet, the LIRR borrowed the brand new SC42-DM numbered 307. This ran in a few spots along the LIRR for clearance testing and the LIRR equipped it with LIRR 3rd rail shoes. Believe it or not, something even better happened that I sadly did not to catch. They got last second clearance on Thursday December 11th, 2025 to run the test train to Hicksville and then have the charger actually lead on the mainline back creating a once in a lifetime shot of a Metro North engine leading on the mainline of the LIRR. This was still very cool to see regardless and gives a sneak peek as to what is coming sooner than later. Locations in this video in order is Kew Gardens, Morris Park, Cold Spring Harbor, Saint James, Greenlawn, the Staples Street railroad crossing on the central branch, Bay Shore, Bayport, Speonk, Center Moriches, Sayville, Farmingdale, and Brentwood.
