I’ve been doing this for almost 5 years now, and I’ve never been caught in a thunderstorm as intense as this one. There were several hundred strikes within a half mile of the boat, and several that struck the water only a few hundred feet away, and that was only part of it. With winds gusting around 55 MPH and one of the most intense rainstorms I’ve ever towed in, we were basically in our own small tropical storm. As you’ll see in the video, there was a period when visibility was less than 100ft, which, when you’re towing in an area with shallow water and channel markers, is a bit nerve-wrecking.
