Dr Kit Miyamoto (Speaker 2) - At The Crossroads Event 2013

Описание: Miyamoto International NZ Ltd (formerly Miyamoto Impact) and the Catholic Archdiocese of Wellington hosted a joint speaker event on 8 August 2013 in Wellington to address some of the concerns that have arisen since the Canterbury quakes.

Dr. Kit Miyamoto serves on the Board of Directors for Miyamoto International NZ Ltd, a New Zealand-based global earthquake and structural engineering company as well as CEO of Miyamoto International, Global Risk Miyamoto and a non-profit organization -- Miyamoto Global Disaster Relief. He is a California Seismic Safety Commissioner and a board member of Global Earthquake Model. Under his leadership, more than 15,000 projects have been successfully completed worldwide.

He is an expert consultant to the World Bank on the seismic risk mitigation project for 1500 schools in Istanbul. He worked with the UN to conduct seismic assessments of more than 430,000 earthquake-damaged structures in that country. Dr. Miyamoto is implementing the repair and strengthening of more than 120,000 damaged Haitian buildings. He is also involved with post-disaster reconstruction in New Zealand and natural disaster risk reduction in Bangkok.

Dr. Miyamoto has published more than 100 technical papers and is a frequent international speaker on disaster issues. He has been featured by several media organizations, including CNN, NBC, the Discovery Channel, the New York Times, and the Rolling Stone magazine.
