From his early days riding for Powell and skating the legendary Skate Zone with Rodney Mullen showing up, to becoming one of the youngest pros on one of the most iconic teams of the late 90s, Sammy’s story is raw, real, and full of history. He opens up about skating with Chad Muska and the Shorty’s crew, filming Fulfill the Dream, and the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the 1999 Transworld Awards.

Sammy talks about turning pro, tearing his ACL after Guilty, and how he dealt with the mental and emotional crash that followed. He reflects on the Circa Euro Trip with Chris Cole and Mark Appleyard, why he left Shorty’s, and starting Turf Skateboards with Mike York. He also shares his perspective on whether walking away from Shorty’s was the right move.

Sammy also talks about life after pro skating, how he handled injury, depression, and drinking, and what led him to create SB Skateboard Academy, where he now teaches the next generation of skaters.
