💬 What is “Jirai Kei”?
In Japanese fashion and culture, Jirai Kei (地雷系) literally means “landmine style.” It refers to a fashion aesthetic often linked to girls who dress in cute, gothic, or dark styles but are stereotyped as having complicated or troubled pasts—like running away from home, bad relationships, or emotional struggles. While not everyone who dresses Jirai has these experiences, the style has become a symbol of fragility mixed with striking fashion.
