Gundam is a hidden character in this game. He is an unlockable playable character in Vs Mode, but he cannot be used in the Story Mode.

When using him in Story mode, only the mech applies. The pilot remains as Heero Yuy (it's his story after all).

===== About Gundam =====
The Gundam or RX-78 is one of the most famous and original Gundam mechs, and Amuro Ray is one of the first and main drivers to pilot it.

Gameplay-wise, Gundam has good speed and average power. Because of his smaller size, his range can be a bit short. The second part of his Rising strike special move requires ammo, so if he is out out ammo, he doesn't project any beams.

===== About Gundam: Battle Assault =====
This is a very good mech/robot fighting game, the 2D graphics are excellent and the sprites are animated really well. The gameplay is good, with chain combos and Cyberbots-style special moves. Due to the large sprites and high amount of animation, the game runs at 30fps.

The soundtrack is well-composed and is of the techno music genre, which is typical of what you would find in a Gundam-related mech/robot fighting game.
