Fears to Fathom is a first -person adventure and psychological horror video game originally released in the summer of 2021 by Indian-born video game programmer and developer Mukul Negi , known by his pseudonym Rayll, through the Steam platform . It consists of five independent episodes published periodically, of which only four have been released (the last one is published in September 2024). Each story has a different narrative, based on "real events" sent by users to the creator and which tell of disturbing experiences lived by them.

The creation of the first episode, Home Alone , was based on stories he found on the creator's YouTube channel "Mr. Nightmare", 5​ which posted real-life horror stories and unexplained mysteries caught on camera, which was an incentive to craft the narrative. It was released on Steam on July 2, 2021. As he would later state, Negi did not expect anyone to be interested in the game. "I was about to put my career as a game developer aside after I noticed the first episode." Since its release, it has had over 140,000 downloads, with "very positive" reviews. Referring to that good start, Negi theorized that fear that feels real, close, draws attention. "It definitely had something to do with the relatability factor."

Thanks to this good reception, he began developing more episodes, for which he asked players to send real horror stories to his email, to choose from among all those that could fit the format of the video game. Thus, the publication of new stories such as Norwood Hitchhike would arrive , released on January 6, 2022, 7 Carson House , on January 9, 2023, 8 or Ironbark Lookout , on October 20 of that same year, 9 coinciding with the Halloween period , which was taken advantage of by various youtubers to be played for the first time. The last episode, Woodbury Getaway, was released in September 2024, with a trailer for it being released in August of that year.
