A patient story following patellar tendon reconstruction, documenting recovery at two and nine weeks - Jack Gunn is a bodybuilder who suffered a severe knee injury requiring patellar tendon reconstruction.
In this patient story, Jack shares his recovery at two weeks and nine weeks after surgery, filmed during follow-up consultations with Professor Gordon Mackay at The Mackay Clinic.
Jack previously underwent patellar tendon surgery elsewhere using a more traditional technique. He describes that recovery as prolonged and difficult, with significant swelling, pain, and a lack of confidence in his knee.
By contrast, this surgery involved patellar tendon reconstruction using Internal Bracing, and Jack describes a very different early recovery experience. At just two weeks post-op, he reports no pain and is able to activate his quadriceps. By nine weeks, he demonstrates improved movement, muscle control, and confidence in his knee.
This video documents one patient’s experience of patellar tendon reconstruction and early rehabilitation, highlighting how different surgical techniques and stabilisation methods can influence the recovery process.
This film is intended for education and information only and reflects an individual patient’s experience.
With thanks to Jack Gunn for allowing us to share his Patient Story
