While reading about various tilings, I stumbled upon the Gilbert tessellation and decided to implement it in iterated fragment shaders. This was a fun little exercise of using a "wrong" tool — rather frustrating at times, but I think it works now, more or less.
This is a simple model of crack formation. Each crack starts at a random seed point, and extends at a uniform rate until it hits another crack. This makes some interesting dynamics as the cracks compete to continue through collision points; small changes in seed positions can cause long-range changes in the crack pattern.
