⚔️ About This Episode:
The party explored Durst Manor's upper floors, uncovering dark secrets and tragic histories. In the library, they discovered a hidden chamber containing necromantic texts and documents revealing Gustav Durst's affair with a maid and a contemptuous letter from Strahd von Zarovich. Their investigation led them through dangerous encounters, including an animated broom that Jynx destroyed with thunderous magic, and to the attic where they found the skeletal remains of a murdered woman—the maid—in a trunk. Her ghost appeared, screaming about Gustav's betrayal and pleading to "save the children" before vanishing. The party then discovered that Rose and Thorn, who had been guiding them, were actually dead—their small skeletons lay in the locked attic bedroom where they had starved to death during one of their parents' parties. The children's spirits revealed their tragic fate and that their remains needed proper burial in the family crypt below. Descending into the crypts beneath the manor, the party laid Rose and Thorn's bones to rest in their family tombs while eerie chanting echoed through the tunnels. They discovered various treasures, including a disturbing human skin coin pouch and a silver sword, before being ambushed by the animated corpses of Gustav and Elizabeth Durst. After defeating the undead parents with radiant magic and coordinated attacks, they continued exploring the crypts. Their progress was halted when what appeared to be a door suddenly transformed into a mimic—a monstrous creature with a tooth-filled maw that grappled Xavath in its jaws, leaving the party facing yet another deadly threat in the depths of Durst Manor.
