Soft sand, off-airport landings, and learning a new airplane all in one flight.
On day one of this trip, I meet up with friends and head out to explore desert washes and backcountry landing spots near a remote ranch northwest of Phoenix. The conditions look good—but desert flying brings its own challenges.
